Okay, so over the past few weeks I've been thinking of getting my hair cut short at the back. its natually curly and right now its a blonde dirty blonde with brown on the botton i.m dyeing it brown once i feel like i should its about i little past shoulders about 1-2 inches when natual dry or with glue and everything and about 2-3 when straighted

My hair is just down to my shoulders (I just cut it on Friday) I really wanted it to keep growing out, but it just get split ends SO easily. I only straighten it maybe, 2 times a month. I wash it in the morning, then I put herbal essences leave in conditioner in the ends and then I put sunsilk "captivating curls" in the rest of my hair. I know that a lot of people say that there is no way to make your hair grow faster, but really, if anyone even THINKS they have a way to make hair grow faster or even to just help protect against getting split ends, PLEASE tell me! Help is GREATLY appreciated!

P.S. I am trying to grow my hair atleast 5 1/2 or 6 inches by the end of June, do you think that could happen?

- thick and straight

- very long, a few inches from my butt

- I had sidswept bangs and they looked good on me, but now they've grown out and are down to my nose

- I have close layers and then a shorter layer than all the rest

I need a brand new style with a dramatic look, but I don't want to cut too much off because I look childish when my hair is near my shoulders, or shorter, also people tell me to stick with the "long hair."

If it counts my hair can't hold ironed curls, they fall out before I'm finished curling all of my hair. I don't want to use hair pray or muosse.

HI, I am a 19 year old African American female. I used to have long hair. But when I was a eleven I got my first perm. I didn;t need one b/c I had good hair. But i wanted one because everyone else had one. Although my hair was long, my mom never let me wear it down so i felt like what was the use of me having long hair if i couldn't wear it down. My first perm was a PCJ , it took my hair out tramendously. By the time I was 12, my hair was only shoulder lenght. I decided to get some weave braids and my aunti burned the ends of my real hair and my hair became very uneven. So, my mother made me get a short hair cut promising that my hair would grow back soon enough. unfortunately, 7 years later and my hair is still not that long. It is almost shoulder lenght. After a perm, I can feel the ends of my hair barely touching my back. I am so upset, what must i do? I was told that I should grow my perm out and by doing that I would have to get a short haircut all over again.

I suggest going to an Aveda salon where the stylist can advise you best how to control your hair, and give you a new look. Make sure you choose a stylist that is an Aveda graduate, and either owns the store, or is a partner. Then you'll be assured to get the best answer for your ailment.

Since you have wave to your hair try getting it cut all one length at your shoulder or just above. It will give you a new look. If you cut it to the shoulder you probably can put it in a pony tail and when you want to go for a fixed look your hair will probably lay so that it curls under easily. If not then you may have to go about an inch below. Because of the fact you have a perm too even though it is fadeing you can probably just wash it and go and it will look great. I usually get my hair about an inch below my shoulder so that I can either curl it under or wear a pony tail. I have very fine hair and also have to get it what they called tapered so I can curl my ends. Tapering is where they basically layer the ends but not the whole hair. Hope that this helps.

Don't relax your hair! It'll just damage it %26amp; you'll have to keep getting it done. If you insist on putting chemicals in your hair, get a texturizer. It'll loosen your curls %26amp; make it less thick.

As for a cut, I suggest long layers or getting your hair thinned. I never got my hair thinned (I hear that they just cut your hair a special way), because the long layers did seem to thin my hair out.

I think you just need to know what to do with your hair. Straightening your hair is fine, but don't do it all the time. Embrace your curls!

Soo, tips!

1. Use shampoo's that are for wavy or curly hair. They moisturize and enhance/define your curls. I currently use Garnier Fructis Curl %26amp; Shine system (shampoo, conditioner, %26amp; leave in). It's amazing! If not, use a moisturizing one (I suggest to stay away from Pantene. Leaves build up!)

2. When styling your hair, always style your hair wet. I stick my head under the sink every morning.

3. Products: I use Sunsilk Defrizz (green bottle) 24/7 creme %26amp; Tresseme Curl Care mousse. You don't have to use these exact products though, just expirement! Just make sure whatever you choose to use its for curly/wavy hair so it'll define your curls.

4. How often you should shampoo.. a lot of people have different opinions. I personally wash %26amp; condition 1-2 times a week. Other's will say condition everyday.. I personally think this will leave build up.

Other tricks of the trade (haha, not really, just things I do) is to put your hair up in a bun when you sleep. It'll keep your hair from being wild in the morning %26amp; I think this helps with styling. Also, I never comb my hair unless I'm washing it; it'll take out the curl. If you need to comb, finger comb while wetting your hair.

For straightening, I do this about once a month or less. I don't want my hair to be fried. Make sure you put a good heat protectant (I use Tresemme spray %26amp; gel specially made for heat.. it's black %26amp; red). As for a straightener, everyone suggest's a Chi. Its nothing amazing to me %26amp; its $100. Soo, I currently use Remmington. It def. gets the job done. My hair is straight, like the Chi would do. Pick one with different heat settings (I hear the pink%26amp;brown one works well, but I have the new one with Teflon). If you want something expensive, go for the Solia. Never used it, but I read many good things about it and its $80 (I was going to get this one, but heard of Remmington. I thought if it was cheaper %26amp; works just as well, why not try it?). Also, though it will take longer, opt for a 1 inch straightner.. though a 2 inch (borrowed my cousin's) got the job done just fine too.

You have two issues that I see can cause a problem. Frizzy hair doesn't do well with layers, unless you straighten it with an iron. Square face and angles that need hiding...only layering it will work.

You might want to go to a salon that does the pics with styles so you can see what you will look like before you do it.

I have cut hair like yours on a face like yours (lol) and it has worked fine. The person just needs to do more haircare maintenance than before. If you have the time to maintain the look then by all means get it layered and angled around your points on your face ...to hide the squareness of your face. Get angled bangs to offset the same thing. You should have it on the long side of bangs and angled around your face.

Try using products that help with the frizzes like Sleek looks by Matrix. Get the whole system...it's great. I have frizzy hair and I love this stuff.

Long, thick, shiny hair is a beautiful thing! I would suggest trying to grow it even longer than you've ever had it...it would prevent it from looking "poofy". I prefer all one length myself, as it is easier to style, especially in updos, and hair looks shinier when it's uninterrupted by layers. I suppose long, face-framing layers (in other words, just on the sides) wouldn't be so bad if it suits you.

There is nothing more terrible than a head full of dead ends. I would suggest going to talk to your stylist and seeing just how much is dead? It might be a whole lot more than you think and you may need to cut several inches off. Besides if you get all the dead off it could breath new life into your hair.

I would definitely get it cut short enough so if you were planning on keeping the same cut for another long period of time, you would be able to leave it alone without it becoming a mess. My advice would be to cut the shortest at shoulder length, but if that's too short, maybe 2 or 3 inches past your shoulders. What you really need to do is decide on how long you want to keep it AFTER you see your stylist and find out how much you NEED to cut off because of all of the dead ends. I would say if you are really nervous about cutting it, go in small steps. Cut 1 inch after you get the dead ends off. Then go from there, and then you can stop when you are starting to feel uncomfortable with it. Don't let your stylist make you do something you don't want to do and will regret. Your hair is like your permanent accessory, you can't change it as quickly as you can change your purse. Make sure when you change it, you really like it.

yes, definitely :) I also had long hair (down to the middle of my back, atleast) almost all my life and when I finally decided to get layers I absolutely loved them :) My suggestion would to only have a little bit taken off--the gradually increase, maybe even do some highlights:) Depending on your hair's texture, layering and then highlighting can be great. For example, I have fine, straight hair. Layers and highlights have added more texture, shine, movement, dimension, etc.

well, with curly hair, you could really go either way if you straighten it, but it really depends on wether you have thick or thin hair, because if its thick, the shorter you cut it, the less weight there is pulling it down so it gets more poofy and bigger but if its thin then youre one of the lucky ones that can straighten your hair if you cut it short and have it look fabulous! hope i helped!

I think curly hair looks best when it's kept around the shoulders. When some girls allow their curly hair to get long, some parts of it get wavy and other parts just break and get curly around their face, which looks awful... but cutting it too short makes you look like Annie or like you have an afro, and that's not much fun either.

ok here are two different ways that i do to make my hair grow faster. the first thing i do is i use horse hair shampoo(they stuff horse groomers use to make the hair on a horses tail grow faster) on my hair every day, after i use that i blow dry my hair til its completely dry, then for 5-10 minutes i rub my hands all through my hair and it makes it grow faster then what it really does. your growth rate is about a half inch a month, and when you do what i do it goes up about 3 times that, and it will grow around an inch to an inch and a half a month. it doesnt seem like much, but its actually alot. 1.5 inches a month is 18 inches a year, and thats a foot and a half, and if you dont do what i do then your hair only grows 6 inches a year. so do what i do and your hair will grow faster

NO. Try drinking more milk for calcium and you should see in improvement in your hair and nails. There is no magical solution for hair growth, split ends,height,acne etc. The "special' shampoos just cover up any problems but the problems is still there. Time is the best solution. And don't over dry your hair, use a straightener, curling iron etc everyday. It just does more damage.

I don't think your hair is as bad as mine because I had it cut super short. It was a little longer in the front and short and spiky in the back. I had that done a little over four months ago. I think it should be fine as long as you take good care of your hair by using a good shampoo and conditioner and only shampooing every other day. Massaging your scalp also helps by increasing circulation to your hair folicles. If you lack a protein rich diet you should try Mane N' Tail, it's a horse shampoo which can also be used on people and it is said to aid in hair growth. I have been using it for a week so far so I can't tell if it has grown, but it does feel a lot healthier. I read once that you should cut it gradually so you don't freak out at a drastic cut. You could first have it cut just below your shoulders and then if you still want it shorter you can have a few more inches taken off. Bangs are really big right now so I would suggest having it cut with long layers and bangs. Also, stylist are not mind readers so having a picture will help alot. Go through some magazines and see if you can find a haircut you like that you can cut out to show the stylist. Good luck.

It depends if your hair is something you count as being one of your defining features. Shorter hair is going to be way more practical if you are backpacking. Easier to keep clean and alot quicker and less work to wash when maybe you wont have the ideal bathroom arrangements.

How much younger are they? I know exactly how you feel. When I went and got side-bangs cut last year, both my little cousin and sister opted for the SAME look. Unfortunately for them, I knew how to style my hair. On them, it just looked like they were trying to look older than their ages. My mom just told me to take it as a compliment that they thought I looked so good that they wanted to imitate me. Someties it gets frustrating to have your siblings want to be like you/do the things you do/ etc, even when you make them "pinky-promise" that they NEVER will. But if you think of it objectively, it's someone who idolizes you and in that sense it could be a real ego booster. IF they're a LOT younger than you, let them slip. simple! remember all kids go through that stage.it just means that they admire you. when i was little, my parents said i used to want everything my cousin had, that's how they got me to do a few things. for instance they would try to make me do something and i would just sit there. but when i see my older cousin doing it (and i wanted to be just like her) i immediately wanted to follow. i know its a hard thing to deal with because u want your individuality. you sound like my niece like you are around the adolescent age where you want to and need to be yourself. here's what i think you should do. because it looks so nice on u i suspect their mind basically believes u have great taste no matter what you get. so next time go to the hair dresser with them. and pick out styles for them that are cute. at the same time its a little bonding experience. just really get them excited about another hairstyle. compliment them: "Oh this would look soooo cute on you."You like this one? Well, something I tried when my hair was dry is avocado and it is wonderful! You don't have to spend much money by buying a good avocado, the ones they sell in the supermarket that are very soft already are the best for the hair. So, make avocado puree (press it with a fork, that will do) and after shampooing, put the avocado on your hair like a cream, wrap you hair with a plastic bag and put a hot towel on top (5-10 minutes is OK). Rinse thoroughly and let your hair dry naturally (no hairdryer). Repeat on a weekly basis until you note the change, then every 2 weeks will do. This will help your hair to be shinny, healthy and repair the damage.

If possible, avoid using straighteners and hairdryer, they really damage your hair. What I do is wash my hair in the evenings and change my hair towel twice, so it absorbs most of the water and then I let my hair dry by itself.

For dry hair definitely use a lot of good conditioner, one that is rich in moisture or a very intensive conditioner for dry or damdaged hair. Also, get your ends trimmed as this helps hair to stay healthy. I put off getting my ends trimmed for ages but when I did it actually helped a lot!

I'm not really sure what you could use to straighten your hair without using straightners. Although I have seen straightening balms and conditioners etc in shops that I guess leave your hair straighter than it was before.

To get a great hair, you need to trim at least once every 2 months. Then, you cannot wash your hair everyday because it will cause your hair even drier. I use Kiehl's Amino Acid Shampoo and it's great for dry hair. Don't forget to follow up with conditioner.

Once a week get a hair mask. You can do this on your own. You can buy it everywhere. I use The Body Shop's hair mask.

Use a curling iron on a low to medium heat setting, when your hair is dry get some redken heat glide and use a small amount starting at your roots to the end of your hair. this will help protect from curling irons and hot irons, take your hair section by section and do a loose wrap around the barrel of the curling iron (use a big barell curling iron) and let it stay on for about 15 seconds and loosely let go and it should give soft waves like that pic. You can also ask your stylist to do that to your hair once its done. And yes if you get your hair trimmed it will get rid of your dead ends and make it more managable. To solve the itchy problem I would use a heavy duty conditioner the best hydrating deep conditioner you can afford and leave it sit for about 15minutes and rinse with cooler water.

ok so I use to wear my own hair out a few years back (I鈥檓 21 btw) it was pretty long to my back and full but I got bored so I started wearing braids eventually becoming completely addicted to weave on鈥︹€nd by weave I mean long jet black hair extensions鈥︹€︹€ want to now stop wearing it and get a hair cut but there are two problems

I think you should just do as you please.I don't think just hair can attract a man. It could also be your confidence that added to it.I myself used to have plaited/braid extensions,temporally for a year, but this was two years ago and yes I turned many heads. My hair now just touches my shoulders and I still get glances,I still feel comfortable with my hair as it is.The main thing is, if your confident about yourself, this will shine through no matter what hair style you have.
