How long will it take my hair to grow?

i used to have thick curly black hair but over the past year my hair has thinned out a lot, it started falling a lot after the death of my father and high fever (plus weight loss resulting from the fever) then i became iron deficient, i'm on pills for that...i want to cut my hair really short (no bald but almost) how long will it take for my hair to grow a shoulder lenght? has any one else been through this or shaved their heads off? how long did it take to achieve satisfactory growth? does age matter i'm 20 turning 21...do share experiences, any help is appreciated.

well i had cancer when i was 6 and due to my chemo i lost all my hair and was completly bald...now im 16 and its down to my bum! lol--and i get it trimmed every 3 months...my guess would be 3 - 4 years depending on your hair it will be down to your shoulders...best of luck to you=)
