Does puppy hair fall out leaving an adult coat, or does it need to be cut on a long-haired dog?

The dog is a Labradoodle, 4 months old with very straight fine hair, and a curly under-coat under that. The straight hair stands on end and is quite long. Do I cut that or just let it fall out by itself or will he likely always have two types of hair?

Nope you dont have to cut it, the puppy hair will gradualy fall out, as the adult hair comes in.

Because it is a labradoodle, you must learn the type of coat to prepare for grooming... I included a link with pictures of the three coat kinds, Hair, Fleece, and wool. Compare you pups coat to the dog's coat shown, and you will learn alot... particulary, if it is a shedding type coat.

It will get thick and then you will need to cut it . An the adult coat will be there.
