theres this girl in my school and her hair is wayyy too long! its over 2 1/2 feet and people CONSTANTLY make fun of her for it . yet she says shes going to wait until marriage to get it cut. i respect her wishes but what could i say to persuade her to cut her hair, for her own good. i mean im not superficial, but high school is a cruel world and her hair is just DEAD at the last foot and it really is disgusting esp. when your sitting behind her and her hair is all over your desk!! PLEASE HELP!!

I think you are totally wrong. Long hair is gods gift and if she wants to have let her have. I am amazed to see your comment. Because long hair are always lovely to watch especially if it is braided it is just superb. I always love to watch long hair and I also make braid and comb my girl friends hair. You make friendship with her. Enjoy her company. Take her to beauty parlour. Give her more styles but don't ask her to cut her hair. Well if she wishes then let her cut her long hair. You should feel proud that in your class that a girl with lovely long hair is there. Try to help her out. In the interval always untangle her hair, gently comb her hair. You can also make plaits and when you touch the plait, It gives awsome feeling. It is so fantastic. Ok. If she says yes, then you gently comb her hair and trim her hair by 1 inch so that she will not have split ends. But don't forcibily trim her hair without her permission.

I don't think you should go bold lol, but definitely cut it by trimming it down a bit, Even if you cut hair short you won't look ugly because you have nice curly hair that looks healthy and would still have volume. And if you don't like the way short hair looks then don't worry about it because it grows right back.but At times is good to go for a change-whatever makes you happy best of wishes

try hair treatments. One that is low cost and very effective is a mayonaise treatment. you coat all of your hair with plain mayonaise, let it sit for about 20-30 min, then rinse it out. follow with a regular moisturizer (my fav. is nexxus). Its a little gross looking, but it makes your hair so soft on smooth. There are also several quick spray in conditioners and oils. I also have dry hair, and a dry scalp. Not sure what hair color would look good on you since I dont know what you look like. My guess is purple would be a great color.

The front is almost to my shoulders and the back looks like it is almost there also but its all reallt really really really short. like less than an inch long in the back whilt the front is as long as 6-7 inches or more. i am an afro-american too and i was told the same thing about cutting my hair. after much trial time and error i have found out that hair stylist are in the business to make money and that says a lot about me i am one. look my hair was dry and brittle so i keep conditioning it hot oil the whole nine yards. and it worked for a little while but, to be honest what i know from experience and from my own issues. is that. when i stopped doing so many things to my hair it did its thing on its own and grew. i keep my hair braided to keep away from curling irons and heat which makes the hair dry and brittle i keep in washed just a hygiene thing you know and i oil my hair once a week and when the braid grow out i take them out and let my hair breathe for a week and braid them up again for a month or two . and now my hair is down past my shoulders my hair was 3 inches all over and that was 6 months ago. i hoped this helped.

you are using too many products. shine is not that good for hair, it has a drying effects after a few hours. and you may want to talk with a dr. about alapicia i think i mis spelled that or if your on medication for anything it could also have adverse effects for your hair. good luck.

Leave it alone, just stick with the basics, keep it clean, conditioned, and moisturized. Don't use petroleum based products or anything containing mineral oil. Sleep with a satin cap on to reduce breakage and don't allow your ends to rub against the collars of your shirts, the rough texture will snap off hair. Don't use rubber bands, gels, or too much of anything.

If its dry, try co-washing and after you rinse the conditioner out put on a little hair oil to seal in moisture.

Hi. It sounds like your hairdresser, or whoever is straightening your hair, has really overdone it with the heat. Heat can be okay for black hair if it is used in moderation, but if too much heat is used at too high of a temperature it will thin out your hair and cause it to break off. I straighten my own hair, but I have learned over the years that less heat is better and that the hair products you use have to be really moisturizing to help protect your hair from the heat. As far as your hair is concerned, I suggest that you stop getting your hair straightened and pursue wearing your hair in a natural style. Your hair will not get any longer as long as your hairdresser continues to burn it out with the flat iron. You may have to cut your hair down to a really short length to even out the texture, because hair that has been damaged by heat does not return to its naturally curly texture. After getting your hair cut, don't get it straightened for a long time. Give your scalp and your hair a rest. Experiment with natural styles. When it is short, just wear it in a cute afro, but as it grows longer try braids (that are not to tight) and roller setting it. To roller set it divide it into small sections, apply a good rich hair conditioner, and then roll up the sections using the rollers. Let it dry and then take out the rollers and gently fluff them up (but not too much) with your hands. You need to be gentle with your hair for it to grow. Stay away from perms and hair dye because these products work by weakening the protein structure of the hair. If you take good care of your hair and really pamper it, you should see about six inches of growth within a year.

If you have hard water, you may need a water softener. My hair is this weird orangish blond due to the rust in ours. That can make hair brittle and hard. There are also oil treatments you can use to soften it, and leave on conditioners. I bet you have curly hair. Afro or not, I'm still dying of jealousy! : )
